happy 4th!

I used to love the fourth of July growing up. We would have the anual block party at my neighbors house. Eat tons of food, homemade ice cream, at set off lots and lots of fireworks. It was always so fun and one of the highlights of my childhood. Now being a mom I desperatly want my kids to have those same kind of fond memories. It's such a bummer though because you can't have fireworks around here. This year Ben had to work (what else is new) but my mom had the day off so we went to the Cayucos parade. there was crazy mad people there but we squeezed our way up to the front and had a blast. I don't know what it is about parades but I always shed a tear when I see that first marching band walk down the street. I just love how parades bring people together. I love the nostalgia of it all. Something so simple as people in an old car driving down the street waving at you. It always brings me to tears. I'm a dork I know.
When Ben got home we went back to Cayucos to watch the fireworks. That was super fun but freezing. We weren't really prepared for that. There was so many drunk high school kids. One kid was walking in front of us and completely face planted hard onto the sand. It reminded me of my drunken stuppor days. Ahhh...those were the days.
Zaiah loved the fireworks and was yelling wow, ohh, cool after every one. Zeke on the other hand was so scared and hid under the blanket the whole time begging to go home. Crazy kid.
